Remediation of 500kV Line Clearance Violations

Home » Projects » Remediation of 500kV Line Clearance Violations

Client: BC Hydro
Location: British Columbia, Canada
Status: Completed, 2017 to 2019

Overview

Clearance violations on a 500kV lattice tower transmission line required engineered correction without extended outages. Our team assessed the affected spans and developed a full construction package presenting viable remediation options, including raising existing structures and re-tensioning conductors. Detailed structural analysis and PLS-Tower modelling underpinned every option so that BC Hydro could weigh cost against constructability with confidence that each solution met safety and regulatory requirements.
