Metals processing plants are congested, hot and rarely shut down. At the Horne Smelter in Rouyn-Noranda we delivered detailed technical studies, internal control of construction works and full site supervision for a new RMR thaw building over a twelve month programme.

Standards and tools

Design and review follow CSA structural standards and an ISO 9001 modelled quality management system, with non-conformance reporting and risk management carried through the whole construction period.

Building inside a running plant

The constraint on a smelter project is almost never the structure. It is access, sequencing and the fact that production continues around you. Our role at Horne combined the technical studies with the internal control of the works, so the design intent and the site reality were held by one team.
