Overview
Cascade failure is the scenario every transmission operator wants modelled and none wants to witness. For a line of twenty guyed towers, our engineers built a detailed finite element model to analyse structural behaviour under wind-only load cases, then simulated the forced collapse of a single tower to measure the effect on adjacent structures. Final deliverables comprised a full technical report and a video rendering of the simulation.
