Home » Projects » Paved Road and Heavy Reshaping, Kome 4 to Madjo

Client: TPC
Location: Kome 4 to Madjo, Doba, Logone Oriental, Chad
Status: Completed, November 2025 to March 2026, 4 months

Overview

The challenge. The 2.4-kilometre Kome 4 to Madjo road on the OFDA premises needed more than maintenance: one kilometre required full reconstruction of the pavement structure, while the remaining 1.4 kilometres needed heavy reshaping to restore profile and drainage. Remote-basin logistics — materials, plant and bitumen supply far from any urban centre — made phasing and quality control the deciding factors.

Our approach. The upgrade combined one kilometre of new pavement — a new base course finished with a double bituminous surface treatment, built up by spraying bitumen and spreading chippings in successive layers — with 1.4 kilometres of heavy reshaping. TAWARA SARL supervised the works on the OFDA premises for TPC: controlling base course materials and compaction, supervising the surfacing operations, chairing and minuting progress meetings, and managing work acceptance stage by stage. Construction was executed by STAR Oilfield Services, with supervision, materials control and safety oversight held by one resident TAWARA team.

The outcome. Completed in March 2026 after a four-month programme begun in November 2025, the corridor now carries oilfield traffic on a sealed, properly profiled running surface. The double bituminous surface treatment gives the new kilometre a durable wearing course suited to the climate and traffic, and the reshaped sections restore drainage paths that protect the pavement investment. Delivered with zero Lost Time Incidents.
